DTC Botswana Partners With Botswana Football Association For The Growth Of Women’s Football In Botswana
Supporting a culture of equality, diversity and inclusivity has been important to DTC Botswana’s Social Performance strategy.
As part of DTC Botswana’s Social Investment strategy to promote equality and diversity, the morning of Tuesday 2nd November 2021 became a milestone as DTC Botswana launched its sponsorship to the Botswana Football Association. This launch took place at the National Stadium to announce the partnership and development of the Women’s Football League. This initiative is a step taken towards DTC Botswana’s commitment to Gender Equality. Therefore, this launch intends to fund and encourage Women & Girls’ football initiatives, while increasing Women’s participation in sports.
The sponsorship will run over a 3-year period to the tune of Two Million, Four Hundred and Thirty Thousand Pula (P2, 430, 000) commencing with the 2022/2023 season. The sponsorship will also fund the development of the Grassroots Football Training Programme in primary schools within the 17 BFA Regions countrywide to benefit the girl child.
“Our key objective, as regards our Social Investment programme, includes focusing on forging strong and value-adding partnerships. DTC Botswana actively pursues initiatives that have a strong inclination towards capacity building, enterprise development and supporting women and girls. The initiatives that we embark on, aim to ensure sustainable positive contributions to local communities and align with attainment of the Vision 2036 Pillars, Millennium Development Goals as well as our Sustainability Strategy” said Sedireng Serumola, DTC Botswana Managing Director.
The Sponsorship will cover, but not limited to, procurement of relevant equipment, payment of match officials and payment of service providers.
